Nottingham Lace Draughtsman Drawings

These Nottingham Lace Draughtsman Drawings were acquired from one of Britain's last lace manufactures; Fewkes Lace Embroidery Company.

The original one of a kind technical illustrations are created in a repeat pattern and scaled up by six, each piece is meticulously hand-drawn in pen or pencil, detailing the design, pattern number and essential technician's notes. These drawings are the starting point for the design and production process of making lace embroidery.

Established in 1910, Fewkes Lace Embroidery Company, the makers of these intricate drawings, also created lace fabric for Lady Diana Spencer's wedding dress.
